These patches were designed for anyone to use, feel free to use them wherever you wish. Modify them as you wish. Let me know if you like them, drop me a line at:

vektre@yahoo.com

This list current as of 5-18-03

To use them, you need the microKORG editing software installed on your computer. I use a PC but I am sure they are compatible with the Macintosh version of the software.

You can read more about myself and my synthesizers on my as yet unfinished website:

***INSTALLATION***

(This is for the PC, I am unsure of the Mac procedure)

Extract this archive to a temporary folder.

On the PC simply open My Documents\KORG\My Library\Microkorg and paste these files in there, or if you wish not to mingle them with your own patches feel free to make a new folder, it will be recognized by the software.

***BASSES***

Beautiful Bass (BeautifulBass.prg)
This one is based on voice A52. Who hasn't fiddled with this patch?? :-) Play with the gate if you are going to be using the arpeggiator because moving the mod wheel causes some odd gliding effects. Kind of reminds me of a DX7 bass. This uses the arpeggiator by default.

Liquid Growl (LiquidGrowl.prg)
I like this one because it's just plain growly, and the mod wheel changes the cutoff (as with most of my patches). This could also be a sharp lead synth if played high enough

Saw Bass (SawBass.prg)
Your typical saw tooth bass. Very clean and very flexible

Sequencer Bass (SeqBassLine.prg)
I called this one sequencer bass because it reminds me of some bass samples I had for OctaMED on the Amiga. They were called Sequencer Bass as well. This one uses the arpeggiator by default.

Wet Analog Bass (WetAnalogBass.prg)
This sounds wet to me, hence the name. Not sure it's useful it sounds a bit like a car engine as well :-)

***LEADS***

2-Operator FM Style Piano (2OpFMStylePiano.prg)
Just what it sounds like, thought it would be interesting none the less. Reminds me of my PSS-680.

Alley Cat (AlleyCat.prg)
My cat HATES this patch. She gets frightened and runs under the bed when I play this with the pitch bend! Based most obviously off of A53.

Early 80s Synth (Early80sSynth.prg)
A synth lead with a strong phase shift. Try playing some chords with this one.

Echo Organ (EchoOrgan.prg)
Based on the DWGS file #35, this repeats endlessly but makes a wonderful Pipe Organ. Oscillator 2 changes pitch depending on the octave you are playing. makes great bass effects at lower octaves.

Forever Organ (ForeverOrgan.prg)
Another variation on DWGS #35.

Grand Pipe Organ (GrandPipeOrgan.prg)
Yet another DWGS #35 patch.

Glass Bells (GlassBells.prg)
Very pretty sound, great for twinkly type music.

Killer Bees (KillerBees.prg)
Very heavy on the flange.

Mid 80s Retro (Mid80sRetro.prg)
Sounds like a digital synthesizer's strings but maybe a little brighter. Play some chords with this one too.

SID Lover (SIDLover.prg)
This doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of the possibilites of the SID chip, but it sounds like something that could come from it. Play one note at a time for a bit then hold down 2 then 3 notes, etc..

Stinger Lead (StingerLead.prg)
Sounds very trance/techno-esque. I could really use this somewhere.

Sweet Synth Flute (SweetSynthFlute.prg)
Very melodic. Has a vibrato as well. Using the mod wheel makes it bright and thin.

Synth Bells (SynthBells.prg)
What's a synthesizer without ring modulation bells? :-)

Synth Bells 2 (SynthBells2.prg)
These bells are punchy and a little bit wet sounding to me. They also do not decay until you release the notes.

Synth Glass Strings (SynthGlassStrings.prg)
This sounds pretty and it's based off of the Sweet Synth Flute.

Whiny (Whiny.prg)
It's based off of A53 and it's very whiny, especially when you play with the mod wheel and pitch bend.

***VOCODER***

Simple Vocoder (SimpleVocoder1.prg)
Still learning the Vocoder part. This patch is not very spectacular.

***Sound Effects***

Sean's Patch (SeansPatch.prg)
The first night I got my microKORG I took it to my cousin's and these are some funky sounds he made with it. Play with the mod wheel and the pitch bend as well!

Sean's Other Patch (SeansOtherPatch.prg)
Again some very odd sounding twisted analog signals here
